Premiering in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, Garage Olimpo examines the junta years under Videla’s dictatorship, known as the Dirty War. It follows Maria, arrested on suspicion of links to an anti-government organization, as she is interrogated in a clandestine detention centre. Rather than showing the violence at the heart of its story graphically, the film conveys it through sound and the organization of space. With a final scene that will linger in your mind for years, Garage Olimpo offers a devastating cinematic experience of how profoundly military dictatorship and state violence can affect everyday life.
