A tragicomic masterpiece by Martín Rejtman, one of contemporary Argentine cinema’s most original directors, The Magic Gloves follows Alejandro, a taxi driver whose attempt at entrepreneurship leads him into a series of absurd situations and encounters. Conveying the mood of a handful of Buenos Aires residents who have lost their bearings in the wake of economic crisis through the absurdities of everyday life, the film skilfully blends melancholy with Rejtman’s signature acerbic humour to create an experience that gets under your skin.
